For those of you interested in child care and rural communities you may be interested in the following information. The website listed contains Rural Development State and local office contact information. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) will provide $7 million in loans during 1999 to fund new and rural child care facilities nationally. In many rural communities, child care facilities are not available, or parents have to drive long distances to reach them. The USDA's community facilities program provides an opportunity to expand the network of rural child care. Detailed information about Rural Development programs and applications for financial assistance are available through USDA Rural Development State Offices. To locate your state office, visit the USDA website [http://www.rurdev.usda.gov/recd_map.html], or call (202)720-4323.
