HAND SANITIZER WARNING:

The New Mexico Department of Health reports deaths due to methanol poisoning from some brands of hand sanitizer. The FDA has updated guidance and a product list of hand sanitizers that may contain methanol, and should be avoided. The FDA is advising consumers not to use hand sanitizers from this list. Here at NewMexicoKids.org, we want to provide the most up-to-date information available regarding the public health emergency around the Novel Coronavirus, also known as COVID-19. We are working closely with the Early Childhood Education and Care Department and the Department of Health to continue to provide Child Care resource and referral services with updated information. More information is available below on this page.

New Mexico and the world are in unprecedented times, and we thank you for your service to your communities. If you are a Child Care provider struggling to find supplies or food deliveries, please fill out this short needs survey so we can help you. Our team will contact local districts to see if resources are available to share. They will also call local retailers and research if supplies are available in your area and when the next shipment will be delivered to a local store. CACFP COVID-19 Waiver Request - January 13, 2021. The New Mexico Early Childhood Education and Care Department (ECECD) is seeking a waiver from the United States Department of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Services. The purpose of this waiver is to request approval to readjust the ECECD’s current monitoring schedule for Sponsoring and Independent Institutions in response to the COVID 19 public health crisis. On March 11, 2020, New Mexico State Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham declared a State of Public Health Emergency for the State of New Mexico and the Cabinet Secretary for the New Mexico Department of Health issue a Public Health Declaration on March 12, 2020 to limit mass gatherings due to COVID-19, among other restrictions enacted since the beginning of the pandemic. This waiver will not cost any additional administrative duties outside of the normal oversight that the USDA FNS already provides. Remote Monitoring conducted during FFY20 will be similar in scope and breadth as a review conducted in-person.

Free Virtual Professional Development Opportunity: Rocky Mountain Early Childhood Conference, March 25 - 27

The Rocky Mountain Early Childhood Conference The event usually hosts over 2,000 early childhood professionals in Denver, CO each spring and costs $250-$350 for each attendee, but this year in light of COVID and all of the strain put on child care providers it's being hosted virtually, and sponsors have covered the cost so it's free for providers.

ECECD extends the waiver of parent copayments and the $200 Differential for every child served through March 31, 2021.

1-Jan-21
Programs will be required to report on the spending of the $200 differential. The first report (September to December 2020) is due on Friday, February 26, 2021.  The second report (January to March 2021) is due on Friday, April 30, 2021.  Programs will receive by e-mail or mail, a unique link that includes instructions and reporting protocols.
